Switches are used to connect multiple devices on the same network within a building. Switches can connect your computers, printers and servers, creating a network of shared resources. It would serve as a controller, allowing the various devices to share information and talk to each other. Through information sharing and resource allocation, switches save you money and increase productivity.
Unlike a switch or a hub that are only able to perform basic network functions. For example, a hub can transfer data between computers or network devices but doesn’t analyze or do anything with the transferred data a router has a lot more capabilities than other network devices.
By contrast, routers can analyze the data sent over a network, change how it is packaged, and send it to another network device or over a different network. For example, routers are commonly used in home networks to share a single Internet connection between multiple computers.
